Parent Hacks admin: Welcome back! (And a request for your holiday hacks.)

I’m happy to report that Parent Hacks site traffic over the weekend was abysmal. Exactly as it should be! More family, less computer! I hope those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving had a wonderful time. We spent Thanksgiving in the Bay Area visiting my family, basking in the California sun (my dad cooked the turkey on the BBQ), and generally taking it easy. It was lovely.
We came home to a changed landscape — it was if we left during Fall and returned during Winter. The leaves are gone, it’s frigid, and the stores and streets are in full Christmas regalia. Every year it takes me by surprise.
Speaking of the holidays, how about some holiday hacks? We could all use a bit of extra inspiration during this busy time of year, don’t you think? Send in your best time- and sanity-saving holiday hacks (whichever Winter holiday you happen to celebrate) and I’ll feature them throughout December!
Here are a few from the holiday archives to get the ball rolling:
- Sew simple gift bags out of sale fabric, and lose the wrapping paper for good
- “Christmas smell” without chemicals
- Because reindeer need their carbs
- Assemble before you wrap
- 3-D snowflake templates
- Laundry basket keeps holiday gifts contained
- Cut wrapping paper scraps and seasonal catalogs into paper snowflakes
- Kid art as wrapping paper
- Freeze your Hanukkah candles
- Perfect present: what’s your family’s? And: a word about kids’ mags
- How to organize a holiday gift for your kid’s teacher
- Decorate an outdoor tree with birdseed pinecones
- Holiday Peppermint Bark
- Laundry baskets as trip-packing and present-wrapping organizers
