FDA Reviews Tamiflu & Relenza

The Food and Drug Authority are reviewing the safety of Roche’s Tamiflu and GlaxoSmithKline’s Relenza. Reports surfaced that children who took the drugs suffered neurological problems as well as hallucinations and convulsions.

There are already 25 patients under who 25 have died while taking Tamiflu, most of them in Japan. Including five deaths due to falling from windows or balconies or running in traffic.

Although there have been no deaths from those who took Relenza, children taking them are showing the same problems.

For the meantime, the FDA are recommending the drug makers to to add precautions about the possible side effects when taking the drug.
