Bar cookies save trips to the oven (and burned cookies)

Jill from Atlanta shares the practical realities of baking cookies with little kids in the house — worth keeping in mind given that holiday cookie-baking season is right around the corner:
I love baking cookies with my kids. But the multiple batches, each in the oven for 9-11 minutes seems to always become a problem. Seems like they have a meltdown just before the oven timer rings, or someone needs help in the bathroom NOW, or something else happens and I burn a tray or two before we’re done. My answer came on the bag of chocolate chips. Now I do the pan cookies with the same batter, but now it cooks once for 20 minutes and we’re done and ready to eat.
Yum… homemade cookies right out of the oven (can you smell them?)
